Mark Patterson (Business founder) Story:
"I have been a plant operator for more than 20 years, operating all forms of plant machinery and attachments from 360 and 180 excavators tracked and wheeled to dozers, graders, and tractors. I pride myself on having full knowledge of all equipment no matter how odd. Over the years I have been privileged to work on some very complicated and high-profile projects and also to work alongside manufacturers such as JCB, assisting in the development of future machines and equipment.
In 2017, as a family, we decided to use our knowledge and experience in the construction industry to start our training company which has grown from strength to strength, We then started the plant and tool hire sister company to help us supply affordable plant training. By providing our own plant so we could then pass the savings on to our clients."

Mark created MP Plant Training in 2017 and has been the proud Director ever since.

Paul started for MP Plant Training in 2024 overseeing all three companies and each aspect of the Training and assessment process.

Rebecca Small
Becky started for MP Plant Training in 2021 with a passion for health and safety in construction. She excelled in first aid, mental health training, and much more.

Vicky Patterson
Vicky Co-owns MP Plant Group alongside her Husband, Mark, managing all aspects of admin and finance to keep the company running smoothly.
Office Manager
Nichola Bruce
Nicky started for MP Plant Training in 2021. Looking for a new start, she began her career in office admin and has never looked back.

Katelyn Started for MP Plant Training in 2021 and broke records being the youngest instructor in the UK.

Alex Etholen
Alex was the third employee for MP Plant Training, starting in 2019, he has been Mark's right-hand man for most of the companies lifespan.

Jackie Scarth
Jackie started with MP Plant Training in 2024 as an office admin, and with her strong background she quickly proved to be a perfect fit. She’s done an amazing job and has been a beloved part of the team ever since.

Jamie-Lee started with MP Plant Training in 2025 as an admin assistant and picked things up incredibly fast. With her warm, talkative personality, she’s always a pleasure to chat to on the phone.

Jamie, our sub-contractor Trainer and Tester, has been working with MP Plant Training since around 2023. A highly skilled operator and an even better teacher, he brings outstanding patience to everything he does.

Harry started with MP Plant Training in 2025 as a Trainer and Tester. He loves being out on site no matter the weather and brings plenty of good-natured banter with him.

Anth started with MP Plant Training in 2025 as a Trainer and Tester. Coming from a warehousing background, he’s the go-to for all things forklift and a skilled operator on just about any machine.
Office Manager
Sam Cockburn
Sam started working with MP Plant Training in 2017 as the second employee. He played a key role in the company’s early days, taking care of all office work, and now specialises in our card applications.
Office Apprentice
Kai Cockburn
Kai started with MP Plant Training in 2024, helping out around the site with cleaning machines and small jobs. He has grown into a full-time admin assistant and is a valued part of the team.
Site Caretaker
Declan Rahman
Declan joined MP Plant Training in 2025 as our newest recruit. As our site caretaker, he keeps everything running, looks after the machines, and helps out as a hire operator when required. He’s a huge help to all the trainers.
